Frequently Bought Together
The BreuerHome Mid-Century Modern Lounge Chair & Ottoman is a faithful reproduction of the iconic Eames-style lounge chair (model 670) and ottoman (model 671), first introduced in 1956. It pairs a hand-finished walnut-veneer plywood shell with deep, hand-tufted black top-grain genuine leather and a polished black die-cast aluminium swivel base — a lifetime reading chair that reclines gently with you, offered at a fraction of the authentic original's price.

About the Eames Lounge Chair
Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 for Herman Miller, the Eames Lounge Chair (model 670) and its matching Ottoman (model 671) were conceived as a warm, modern alternative to the traditional English club chair — in Charles Eames' words, something with "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." It was the Eameses' first design intended for a high-end market, and within a decade it had become one of the most recognised pieces of furniture of the twentieth century, now held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The form is unmistakable: three curved shells of moulded plywood, a five-star pedestal base, and generously cushioned leather that appears to float within the wood. Our reproduction honours that silhouette and proportion while making the icon attainable.
Materials & Craftsmanship
- Upholstery: top-grain genuine leather in black, hand-tufted with button detailing and individually filled cushions.
- Shell: seven-layer moulded plywood with a premium walnut wood veneer, hand-finished and lacquered to bring out the grain.
- Base & arms: polished die-cast aluminium in a black finish; the chair sits on a five-star swivel base, the ottoman on a matching four-star base.
- Comfort: the backrest reclines gently and the shock mounts between the shells flex with you, while high-resilience foam holds its shape over years of use.
Customizable Wood Veneer
The shell of this chair is built from laminated wood veneer, and the finish is fully customizable. Choose from four hand-selected veneers to suit your interior:

- 1 — Natural Dark Walnut: rich dark tones with natural grain patterns.
- 2 — Natural Rosewood: warm rose hues with an elegant wood texture.
- 3 — Glossy Rosewood: high-gloss finish with a refined, mirror-like shine.
- 4 — Premium Matte Walnut: luxury matte finish, scratch-resistant with a natural feel.

Care
Dust the leather and wood with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe the leather occasionally with a barely-damp cloth and condition it two or three times a year with a quality leather cream; keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading. Wipe the aluminium base with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners on any surface.
How to Style the Eames Lounge Chair
The lounge chair and ottoman are the anchor of a mid-century modern living room — set them in a reading corner by the window, on a sun-lit terrace, or beside a sofa in black or white leather, with the warm walnut shell catching the light. A soft, sculptural floor lamp alongside finishes the scene with a pool of warm evening light.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a genuine or original Eames lounge chair?
No — this is a faithful, independent reproduction in the Eames-style tradition. It is not manufactured by, licensed by, or affiliated with Herman Miller, MillerKnoll, or the Eames Office. The authentic original typically retails for $7,000 or more; our version honours the same 1956 silhouette in genuine leather and walnut veneer for a fraction of that price.
How does this compare to the original Eames lounge chair and ottoman?
It shares the same instantly recognisable design language — three curved moulded-plywood shells, a five-star swivel base, and tufted leather cushions that appear to float within the wood. Our reproduction uses black top-grain genuine leather and a customizable walnut-veneer shell. The main differences are brand and price: the genuine Herman Miller article is $7,000+, while ours is a premium reproduction at a fraction of the cost.
Is the leather genuine?
Yes — the chair and ottoman are upholstered in black / white top-grain genuine leather, tufted and buttoned by hand, with individually filled cushions.
What are the dimensions of the chair and ottoman?
The chair measures 32.4"W × 35"D × 34.6"H (82 × 89 × 88 cm) with a 16.9" (43 cm) seat height; the ottoman measures 25.6"W × 21.7"D × 18"H (65 × 55 × 46 cm). See the full specifications table above.
Is the Eames lounge chair comfortable for long sitting?
Yes — the backrest reclines gently, the shock mounts between the shells flex with you, and high-resilience foam holds its shape over years of use. Paired with the matching ottoman, it is built for extended reading and relaxed lounging.
Can I choose a different wood finish?
Absolutely. The laminated veneer shell is customizable in four finishes (Natural Dark Walnut, Natural Rosewood, Glossy Rosewood, Premium Matte Walnut). Email support@breuerhome.com to request your preferred veneer.
Does the chair recline and swivel?
Yes. The chair swivels on its five-star base and the backrest reclines gently for relaxed lounging. The ottoman swivels on a matching base.
Is assembly required?
Minimal — the backrest and base attach with the included hardware in a few minutes, and a care guide is included.
