About Arne Jacobsen
Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was the architect who gave Danish modernism its most recognizable chairs. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he designed whole buildings down to the cutlery — most famously the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, for which he created the Egg and Swan chairs in 1958. Three years earlier, working with the furniture maker Fritz Hansen, he had followed his three-legged Ant chair with a four-legged successor: model 3107, presented at the H55 exhibition in Helsinki in 1955 and known ever since as the Series 7. Pressure-molded from nine thin layers of veneer, it flexed with the sitter, stacked for storage and went on to become the best-selling chair in Fritz Hansen's history, with more than five million made. These dining chairs stay true to that tradition — a single sculpted shell, a waisted back, and legs that all but disappear beneath it.

- Legs: ø19 mm (¾") chrome-plated steel tube with a reinforced 2.0 mm wall, mounted to the shell through a black seat bracket for a firm, rattle-free connection
- Feet: black floor glides on all four legs protect hardwood and tile
- Finish: a clear satin coat that lets the grain show through; because the veneer is real wood, tone and figure vary subtly from chair to chair

Care & Assembly
The leg frame attaches to the shell with the included hardware — a few minutes per chair, no special tools. Wipe the veneer with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away; avoid abrasive cleaners and long spells of direct sunlight, which can fade natural wood tones. Polish the chrome legs with a dry microfiber cloth and keep the floor glides free of grit so they keep protecting hard floors.
How to Style Series 7 Style Dining Chairs
The hourglass shell reads as sculpture from every angle, so give it room: a pair at a round pedestal or oval table, or a single chair pulled up to a desk as an accent seat. Stained black is the graphic choice against white walls and a walnut table; natural oak keeps a Scandinavian dining room light and calm; walnut warms a darker, mid-century scheme. All three finishes share the same chrome legs, so sets in different veneers mix cleanly around one table.

Yes. Each shell is multi-layer plywood molded in one piece and surfaced with real wood veneer, so the grain and tone vary slightly from chair to chair — no two are identical.
Does one set include one finish or a mix?
Each set of two comes in a single veneer — choose Stained Black, Natural Oak or Walnut from the Color option. The frames are identical across the three, so mixed sets pair well around one table.
Will they fit a standard dining table?
With a 17.7" (45 cm) seat height, the chairs suit standard dining tables of 28–30" (71–76 cm). At 18.5" wide they also tuck under most desks as an accent or work chair.
Is the chair comfortable without a cushion?
Yes. The shell is shaped the way Jacobsen intended: a waisted back that flexes slightly as you lean, and a seat whose front edge curves down so it does not press into the backs of your legs. Many owners add a thin seat pad for very long dinners, but none is needed.
How do I keep the veneer looking new?
